Omega Farms is Home to Upstate Champions

Omega Farms is a new Equestrian community located in Anderson, SC, developed by Terry Anderson and under the management of Cheryl Baird.  Omega Farms is the only equestrian community in the Upstate with an indoor arena so residents can ride year round.  Cheryl recently traveled to the International Friesian World and Grand National Championship in St. Louis, MO where her horses; and riders brought home an amazing 3 World Championships, 4 Reserve World Championships, and 4 Reserve National Championships.  Cheryl Baird, trainer and instructor at Omega Farms, is absolutely thrilled with the performances that the horses and riders gave at the World Championships.  “I never dreamed we would come back to Anderson with 11 World and National titles.  This is a dream come true for all of us.”  Cheryl can be reached at Omega Farms at 864-260-0061.

Edging Out the Competition

There are many horse sport disciplines in the Upstate South Carolina, and these participants represent their breeds and disciplines at the highest levels in the country.  Land for horses in the upstate is still affordable, so many breeders and competitors are moving their farms to the area because even though areas that surround the Upstate are known for their horse country, Upstate South Carolina is giving them a run for their money.

According to Janet Danforth, an Upstate resident living in the town of Westminster and former editor of  Showhorse Magazine, said that word on the street in the Atlanta areas is “Don’t look for land in northeast Georgia, Go over the border into the Upstate.  You will find cheaper, better land for horse farms there.”  Danforth asks, “who would live in the Atlanta area with horses if they knew about this heaven on earth just up the road?”
