Upstate Attracts Industry & Jobs
Than Anderson Independent Mail Newspaper has reported that the city of Anderson in Upstate South Carolina was “ranked one of the best smaller metros for business and careers” by Forbes.com.
As more industry moves into the area, Upstate staffing firms and non-profit job assistance programs have prepared themselves to connect the influx of employers with qualified workers, from day labor to professional, to executive.
For example, one local staffing agency, FGP International, has recently acquired Align HR, which will give them full human resources capabilities in order to serve more businesses and more job seekers. Also, new non-profits are springing up to assist with job training, job placement, and resume writing, (www.fgp.com)
WorkLink is a new non-profit organization that serves Anderson. Oconee and Pickens Counties in the Upstate. The WorkLink One Stop Services, located in Employment Security Commission offices, helps people identify the “in demand” occupations in the Upstate and provides job training and support to those who enroll in the program.
