Chef Kevin Martin and wife, Jane Martin, relocated from Florida to the Upstate
to own an operate The Liberty Hall Inn and Café IN Pendleton S.C.
Three years ago, Kevin and Jane Martin found The Liberty Hall Inn and Café for sale on the internet. Captivated by its beauty and the possibility of creating a unique experience the couple quickly seized the opportunity to move from Marco Island , Florida to Pendleton, South Carolina and live their dream.
After settling into the 8,000 square feet building on 4 acres of pristine property, they have found that the Liberty Hall Inn and Café is surpassing their expectation, and Upstate residents and travelers alike are enjoying the personal touches and high quality service that they provide.
Innkeeper, Jane Martin, explained that “the fact that we have seven guest rooms plus a full service restaurant that is open to the public is unique to the area.” She describes the atmosphere as “country club casual” and adds that patrons of the restaurant are never rushed and are “encouraged to sit and chat as long as they want.”
The restaurant comfortably accommodates 45 guests inside and up to 150 guests including the outside patio. Crab cakes are the house specialty touted as “more crab than care,” and thanks to Chef Kevin Martin, everything served at the café is 100% homemade. Kevin, originally from New York, graduated from The Culinary Institute of America in 1977, and states that he has acclimated well to the upstate “because it reminds me of home, but not as cold.”
Some of the personal touches that make The Liberty Hall Inn and Café special are Kevin and Jane’s personal service, high quality foods, German china and silver, and an expanded wine list. The inn is located at 621 South Mechanic Street in Pendleton, South Carolina.
